Persona development
Personas are fictional characters created to represent the different user types within a targeted demographic, attitude and/or behavior set that might use a site, brand or product in a similar way.
WRONG!
Personas are not fictional at all. If you want fiction, go to your local bookstore or to Amazon. If you want a persona of value, it has to be a real representation of your market.
A representation of an actual person, something that encompasses their goals, attitude and beliefs. The persona must contain the right detail, enough that you can visualize him/her sitting next to you. You need to understand what problems they have – what keeps them up at night (and often it isn’t the business,) how they use your product – not the way the training/manual explains, and how they make their buying decisions – from money to influence.
Personas are not a game. They are not a story. Do you know who your personas are? Really?
